Or rather, WE have a new book.
The back cover features some of your quilts.
Actually, the whole book features some of your quilts.
You remember our Antebellum Album Block of the Month?
It's now a book from C&T Publishing.
New name---same quilt we worked on in 2018.
Detail from Sara Reimer Farley's Civil Quilt is on the cover. She inked constructive ideas
for civil discourse in the blocks.
You can pre-order Divided Hearts, which is due to be delivered May 25.
Ask your quilt shop to order you one.
Twelve chapters features Civil War era history and piecing instructions. We used your blocks for samples.
That's Becky Brown's top on the bottom.
Susan Vachino's block
We emphasized inking sentiments with
a design for each block.
Many period photos are included, most
from the very generous Library of Congress,
which does not charge for reproduction rights.
Patricia Styring's quilt
The quilts spent over six months in California for photography.
The stories focus on schoolgirl days in the antebellum years when
students formed friendships north and south.
Class in Brooklyn about 1925
I always like to include a picture of my mother in my books if I can.
There she is on the right. Not too antebellum but darn cute.
Here's what the marketing department says about the book:
"The fascinating story of Civil War friendships across the Mason-Dixon line. Create your own historically inspired friendship quilt with twelve popular blocks from the Civil War era. Each album block comes with design variations and an optional center flourish, plus setting instructions. Read compelling narratives of the women who found their hearts divided during the war, yet left a legacy of friendship quilts as proof of their bond."
Thanks for all the help.
