Dustin's Done!

He says it took all year... but it looks great.
He runs our Flickr page
and helped coordinate the gift quilt for me.

He dedicated this top to Doris Caudill in this photo
 (from the Library of Congress)
"This image keeps popping up in my mind, esp. while I was putting this top together. I just ordered the book about her today." It looks to me like he's captured the color in her cotton dress and apron.

He works and farms

And makes quilts.
You'd better check out his Flickr stream:

Very impressive he can get any patches of fabric on that design wall this time of year with his lambing, sheep doctoring and turkey chaperoning..... oh and the regular routine...

Thanks, Dustin, for starting our Flickr group and teaching me how to use it!

Your quilt turned out quite fabulous and I appreciate all you've shared with us. Your jest for life comes through in your quilting and your attitude!

Dustin's the MAN! If he can't do it, no one can! Truly an amazing individual who's great attitude and personality shines through in everything he does. Thanks for all the inspiration and laughs too!

Dustin's quilt is lovely and unique - I don't know how he does everything he does, but I'm extremely grateful that he does! Everyone involved with this project, from Barbara, to Becky, and Dustin, and all the wonderful quilters who participated, giving encouragement and priceless advice - everyone has made this a treasured experience!

Dustin, I meant to say ZEST - I wish these comment things had a spell check.

I agree with what everyone has said so far! Dustin has done an outstanding job with his quilt and he has been an inspiration throughout the year of the CW BOW!
Thankyou Dustin, Barbara and Becky, you guys made a year of sewing a very rewarding experience!
Thanks also for the heads up on Joan Myers' book Pie Town Woman, I'll order a copy too, sounds as if it would be a great read!!!!

Wow - if you poured over a million photos and a million quilts, I don't think you could find a pair so perfectly matched... The sky, the skin, the patina of the wear and tear, the moody shadows... Its all in there. (Curious now if there are any designers who have palettes inspired by photography...)

Thanks everyone, you all are SO NICE!

That image of Doris nearly haunted me for the greater part of last year, I imagined working from a bag of scraps that she may have had laying around, a couple of new pieces, but mostly old pieces from here and there. I absolutely recommend that book about her. It's got some incredible photos, and a great story.
