Wishing For a New Civil War Block of the Week?

Here's the sample quilt for Jennifer Chiaverini's quilt book
Loyal Union Sampler
There are 121 blocks, each 6" x 6"
This book will keep you in stitches for 2 years.

It's paired with her novel
The Union Quilters

See her web page here:

I think it would look lovely in prints from my last two Civil War collections for Moda

From Metropolitan Fair

And Civil War Jubilee

And since you will be working on this sampler into 2015 here's a sneak peek at my next mid-19th-century reproduction collection from Moda: Ladies' Album.

Ladies Album should be in shops in March, 2014.

See a preview of Jennifer's book at C&T here.

It looks like a wonderful quilt to make. I am hoping to make and finish more quilts this year. I got a gift certificate for my bday and I found a nice small machine that I can use for basic sewing and then set my good one up for quilting and work on them a bit at a time.

I've already started this quilt. One in Scrappy Blues and whites and the 2nd in some of Jennifer's Fabrics. The patterns are fun to make 6.5". I wish I had a stash of your fabrics, so I could make it with them. That BLUE might work...

I am proud to say that my quilt is in the book on page 100. It was fun making at and of course I also read to book.

I was lucky enough to make several blocks for the group quilts in the gallery. I am also leading a Loyal Union Sampler block of the week on Yahoo (with Jennifer's blessing) (LUS-BOW). I am making two versions of the quilt, one in Civil War fabrics and one in Blue and Yellow fabrics. I'll be re-reading (listening) to The Union Quilters as I stitch along.
