From Buried in Scraps
I am still trolling the web for finished tops and quilts done from the block of the week here.
Jeanne at Spiral
If you didn't get finished---or even started--- here's a new group that Fat Quarter Shop is featuring on their blog.
Kimberly's White House
They are combining my Civil War Sampler book with the bright Pam Kitty Love fabric line. Beginning December 15th they're posting 5 blocks per month.
Debbie's Barbara Fritchie Star
Now you may prefer a more 1860-ish look, in which case check out Primitive Gatherings Quilt Shop Blog and their kits for the blocks made from the book:
My blocks are still sitting in the box, waiting patiently for me to get them pieced into a quilt top. Had a tough 2012 but I've promised myself that 2013 is THE YEAR! I'll let you know when it's all done!
Love the book!
Best Regards from Helen
It's fun to see the different settings and fabrics. Doniene just posted her completed top here - http://quilts-bordercollies.blogspot.com/2013/01/stitching-right-along-couple-of-freebies.html
I always say I am going to start one and haven't had the time. I still need to finish the things I started, especially my jefferson girls, just need to start piecing it and doing the finishing work and i will have a nice piece to hang for the summer.
Eeeek -- that red one is ME!!!
Loved doing it, and I'm only a little behind on Grandmother's
Choice :) And right now I happen to be reading Patchwork Souvenirs of the 1933 World's Fair. Thank you for ALL the inspiration you give us!
Helen, I love your spirit. Go, girl! I hope you have a great year.
My quilt is still on the frames because I decided to hand quilt it. I've decided that it makes a great room accessory. Find it at:
I started on my quilt before the book came out using the blocks that were on line; I would like to set my 8" blocks which actually measure 9" on point and I do not know what size to make the triangles. I would like to put a strip between the columns of blocks. If you or someone out there knows what the formula is for the size of the triangles, could you let me know? I would love to finish this quilt and send a picture
Dr. S---See this PDF that McCall's Quilting has on line about setting blocks on point and calculating the triangle size.
thank you for this link. It was really helpful. I will certainly send you a picture once the quilt is finished.
So much fun...so little time!
My blocks are waiting patiently, aging to perfection!
